<br />. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />-. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 72-05 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING A POSITIVE INTEREST IN SECURING FUNDS <br />UNDER THE EMERGENCY EMPLOYMENT ACT OF 1971 (EEA) , AND DIRECTING <br />THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO FORWARD CERTIFIED COPIES OF THIS <br />RESOLUTION TO THE PROGRAM AGENT FOR HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, AND <br />TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF LABOR. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte is a political subdivision <br />of the State of Texas, referred in Article 8280-13, Vernon's <br /> <br />Revised Civil Statutes (Texas); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte has participated in the <br /> <br />EEA Program for federal fiscal year 1972, and has taken all <br /> <br />necessary and reasonable action to comply with the require- <br /> <br />ments and criteria of the Emergency Employment Act of 1971; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte recognizes its responsibility <br /> <br />to provide employment to persons who are unemployed, or who are <br /> <br />under-employed, in jobs that provide needed public services, <br /> <br />and, wherever feasible, to retain such persons on the City <br /> <br />payroll at such time the program terminates; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Commission of the City of La Porte <br /> <br />hereby formally endorses and approves the continued participa- <br /> <br />tion by the City of La Porte in the Emergency Employment Act <br /> <br />Program, and hereby expresses a positive interest in securing <br /> <br />further funds under the Emergency Employment Act of 1971. <br /> <br />Section 2.
