<br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />71-04 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLVED, that the City Commission of the City of <br />La Porte hereby agrees and binds itself to pass and <br />approve, at the earliest possible date consistent with <br />the business of the Commission, an ordinance authorizing <br />fili~g of application for grant to acquire open-space <br />land; and <br />WHEREAS Title VII of the Housi~g Act of 1961, as <br />amended, provides for the making of, grants by the Secre- <br />tary of Housi~g and Urban Development to States and local <br />public bodies to assist them in the acquisition of perma- <br />nent interests in land for open-space uses where such <br />assistance is needed for carryi~g out a unified or off- <br />cia11y coordinated pr~gram for the provision of open- <br />space land as part of the comprehensively planned develop- <br />ment of the urban area; and <br />WHEREAS the City of La Porte (herein sometimes <br />referred to as "Applicant") desires to acquire fee simple <br />title to certa.in land known as (see Site Description, <br />Attachment ~ for recreational use; and <br />WHEREAS Title VI of the Civil R~ghts Act of 1964, and <br />the r~gu1ations of the Department of Housi~g and Urban <br />Development effectuati~g that Title, provide that no <br />person shall be discriminated ~gainst because of race, <br />color, or national or~gin in the use of the land acquired; <br />and <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />WHEREAS it is rec~gnized that the contract for Federal <br />. grant will impose certain ob1~gations and responsibilities <br />upon the Applicant and will require among other things (1) <br />assurances tha.t families and individuals displaced as a <br />result of the open-space land project are offered decent, <br />safe and sanitary housi~g, (2) compliance with Federal <br />labor standards, and (3) compliance with Federal require- <br />ments relati~g to equal employment opportunity; and <br /> <br />ATTACHMENT -A- - 2 PAGES <br />
