<br />- . <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />.... <br /> <br />RESOLUTION -# t6 ~ -..5'.p <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION FINDING AND DECLARING THAT <br />THERE EXISTS A NEED FOR THE HOUSING <br />AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE. <br />TEXAS, TO FUNCTION" <br /> <br />.taE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE. <br />~EXAS, as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Commission of the City of La Porte. , Texas, <br />hereby determines, finds and declares in pursuance of the "Housing <br />Authorities Law" of the State of Texas, that: <br /> <br />1. Insanitary and unsafe inhabited dwelling accommodations exist in the <br />City of La Porte , Texas; and <br /> <br />2. There is a shortage of safe and sanitary dwelling accommodations in <br />said City available to families of low income at rentals they can afford; <br />and <br /> <br />3. There is a need for the Housing Authority of the City of <br />La Porte, Texas, to function. <br /> <br />Section 2. In accordance with the foregoing finding, the Housing Author- <br />ity of the City of La Porte , Texas, is authorized to trans- <br />act business and exercise its powers pursuant to the "Housing Authorities <br />Law" of the State of Texas. <br /> <br />~Section 3. The Mayor of said City be <br />the necessary Certificate relative to <br />and designation of the First Chairman <br />office of the City Secretary. <br /> <br />and he hereby is directed to file <br />the appointment of the Commissioners <br />of said Housing Authority in the <br /> <br />Section 4. That the shortage of safe and sanitary dwelling accommodations <br />for families of low income compels such families to occupy unsafe, in- <br />sanitary and over-crowded dwelling accommodations, and causes an increase <br />in and spread of disease and crime, thereby creating an emergency and <br />making it necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and <br />safety that this Resolution becomes effective without delay, and there- <br />fore this Resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately upon <br />its adoption. <br /> <br />After discussion Commissioner Compton moved that the Resolution be <br />adopted as introduced and read. The motion was seconded by Commissioner <br />Stabs , and the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYES: Compton.
