MIATUTES - SPECIAL PaEETING LA PORTS CITY COr~IISSIC~t -MARCH 11, 1960 5:0o P. ~, Special meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, with the following members present: Carnnissioners Brown, Boyle, Lawler and Osborn, City Attorney Pitman and City Clerk Baker. Also present were Carlos Smith, Joe Hill and Dennis Dunham. Motion by Os burn, second by Brown, that "C" Street, from San Jacinto to Broadway, be closed on April lst. Carried. /!p ~~ The closing of the alley in Block 318 was referred to Attorney Pitman to hanaile with the purchasers:. of..block. The request of Mr. R, A. Blalock as to the fence on Jefferson Street, was referred to Cc~uni.ssioner Brown. At this point Mayor Pfeiffer stated that at the beginning he had asked that the present meeting be an executive one, to discuss with the Engineers the letting of the s~uning pool contract. CcanmLssioner Boyle stated he did not believe this should be done. Mr,vunham left the meeting after saying he did not think it fair to hold what he termed a closed meeting. Motion by Brown, second by Osborn, that the meeting be an executive session. All voted "Yes", except Ctxnmissioner Boyle, who voted "No". Carried. The Mayor asked that the Engineers and Commission go over the revised plans for the swimming pool. Motion by Lawler, seconai by Osborn, to award swimming pool contract to Roberson- Gunite, including bath house, for the sum of X37,922,00. Carried. Motion by Brown, second by Lawler, that Commissioner Boyle be authorized to negatiate for four lots on Northwest corner of Block 267, not to exceed ~300.00~ ~_ Carried. Motion by Boyle, second by Brown, to authorize X675.00 to put brick face on south wall of fire station. Carried. Motion by Lawler, second by Brown, that the meeting adjourn.
