Grassed Areas - After completion and acceptance of all conduit, excavation and backfilling <br />work in a given area, the Contractor will place 6" of screened loam and Grass seed type II in all <br />disturbed areas. <br />2. Sidewalks and Footpath Crossings - If the proposed trench crosses sidewalks or payed <br />footpaths, the side walk shall be replaced in kind using an 8-inch gravel borrow subbase and a 2- <br />inch bituminous surface or a 4-inch cement concrete sidewalk, as applicable. If part of a walk is <br />disturbed due to a longitudinal trench (less than 30 degrees skew between the sidewalk alignment <br />and the trench direction), the entire width of the sidewalk shall be replaced. If a length of side <br />walk exceeding 100 feet is disturbed, it shall be replaced with similar materials to a width of 8 <br />feet. <br />3. Roadside Sidewalks - Any disturbed roadside sidewalks shall be replaced for their entire <br />width. <br />4. Road restoration'- . <br />· After completion and acceptance of conduit excavation, and backfilling of road trench <br />areas, 12 inches of compacted Gravel Borrow Subbase course shall be placed to a level three <br />inches below the finish road grade. A temporary surface of Bituminous Surface Course Type I-I <br />shall be placed. <br />· After allowing 6 months for settlement of the road subbase, the Contractor shall place a <br />sawcut of the pavement 12 inches beyond the limits of the temporary patch. Bituminous binder <br />course shall be placed to within 1-1/2 inches of the finish road grade, and a final course of <br />bituminous Surface Course Type I-I shall complete the road work. Reflectorized pigment <br />pavement markings specially manufactured for roadway use shall be placed to restore any <br />pavement striping which had been in place prior to this contract. <br /> <br />C.3.12 Cutting and Patching <br /> <br />I. Where it is necessary to do any cutting and patching, no cutting of beading walls, beams, etc., <br />shall be done without the approval of the Engineer. All patching and finishing, etc., shall match <br />the surroundings. All cutting and patching shall be done by workmen skilled in the trades. <br />2. Holes through concrete and masonry in new and existing structures shall be .cut with a <br />diamond core drill or concrete saw. Pneumatic hammer, impact electric, hand or manual hammer <br />type drills shall not be allowed, except where permitted as required by limited working space. <br />3. Holes shall be located so as not to affect structural sections. ' <br />4.. Holes shall be laid out in advance. The Engineer shall be advised, prior to drilling through <br />structural sections, for determination of proper layout. <br />5. Structural Penetrations: Where conduits, wireways, busduct, and other electrical raceways <br />pass through fire partitions, fire walls or walls and floors, install a firestop that provides an <br />effective barrier against the spread of fire, smoke and cases. Firestop material shall be packed <br />tight, and completely fill clearances between raceways and openings.
