e . ~ Task 4 - Analyze Requirements and Needs Analyze user requirements and needs, including: · Radio coverage requirements for vehicular based mobile radios, portable radios on street, & in buildings. Specific characteristics about how users use their portable radios will be addressed. Portable radios generally operate with lower transmitter power and less efficient antenna systems which necessitates a different infrastructure configuration. These issues must be addressed to help ensure that final system performance matches the users' expectations. · Departmental interoperability needs · Equipment requirements, including forecasted growth · System redundancy issues including backup equipment, system control links and auxiliary power systems for critical components. · Telephone intercommunication needs among departments and requirements for Voice Mail, Automated Attendant and Automatic Call Distribution · Telephone access to city departments by citizens · Current and forecasted requirements for both Local and Wide Area Networking within and between various city departments. .:. The deliverable for this task will be a section in the Needs Assessment Report which summarizes the needs and requirements for the new system's. ~ Task 5 - Develop Conceptual Approaches and Budgetary Cost Estimates Develop conceptual system approaches capable of meeting the city's radio and voice/data needs and requirements. The conceptual alternatives will incorporate redundancy and backup issues and will consider both public and private networks.
