<br />- all d~Jgs; providing for their disposi tion when taken at lar~e by
<br />the l1irshal, Chief of Police or other Poliee Offioer; provIding for
<br />th e f,aes thereof, and providing that all dogs with hydrophobia shall
<br />be killed, and providing a penalty.

<br />B"1i1 IT ORDAINED: ' By the Ci ty Council'of, the Ci ty of La Porte:-
<br />Seo'tion One: It shall; be unlawful for any dog to be at large '
<br />upon 'the streets or alleys or public grounds <,of the Ci ty of T"a -
<br />Porte, unless bearing a plate or tag as hereinafter provided.

<br />Seotion Two: It shall be the duty of the owner of each and
<br />......- ev'ery dog in the Ci ty of TJa Porte, to pa~ to the C1 ty Secretary of
<br />sa,id IJity, a lioense fee of'Two Oollars(l]2.00') ,annually, payable on
<br />or' be:rore the 1l'irst day of July of each year. That upon the pay-
<br />ment of said fee, it shall be the duty of the City Secretary to fur-
<br />nish the owner payang the same with a plate or tag" upon which
<br />shall be a number corresponding with the name' of the person r,egis-
<br />t~j1ring said dog, and the year in which said registration is made,
<br />/::::'\ aIld to keep a record of all suar:h registrations in a sui table book,
<br />'II, ,aJ!ld all' such gogs so registered shall at all times when at large,

<br />( Section Three: It shall be the duty of " the Harshal, chief of
<br />I PCllicQ or other Police Officer of the City of La Porte, to take up

<br />dClgs at large in violation of this Ordinance, to take such dogs to
<br />S(lme suitable place, there to be impounded and detained for a per-
<br />i~d of Three days., and that as-soon as pOSSible notbce shall be
<br />pos\ed at the door of sUch place of detention, describing each of

<br />:Section Six: It shall be the duty of the l(arshal or Chief of
<br />Poli(~Gil, or othet- Police Officer, to cause all dogs not redeemed or
<br />purChased, as provided herein, to be killed in a humane manner, the
<br />carc~~sses to be. disposed of in such manner as may be provided for.
