<br />, An Ordinanco , that it shall be unlawful for dogs to be at
<br />i la:r'~e in the streo~s, allQYs or public grounds of the Ci ty of J/a-
<br />po~~e, unless bearIng a plate or tag; levying a license fee upon
<br />all ~~gs; proviri.ing for their disposition when taken at large by
<br />the MG.rshal, Chief of Police or other Police Officer; providing for
<br />the fees thereof, and providing that all dogs with hydrophobia shall
<br />be killed, and providing a penalty.

<br />Porte, unless bearing a plate or tag as hereinafter provided.

<br />Sec tion Two: It shall be tho duty of the o\mor of each and
<br />ev~ry dog in the City of La Porte, to pal to the City ~ecretary of
<br />saId City, a liconse fee of'Two Dollars(~2.00) annually, payable on
<br />or before the ~irst day of July of each year. That upon thp. pay-
<br />ment of said fee, it shall be the duty of the Citv ~ecretary to fur-
<br />ni::!h the owner paytng the same wi th a plate or taB" upon which
<br />shall be a number corresponding with the name'of the person regis-
<br />to'ring said dog, and the year in '\'/hich said registration is made,
<br />and to keep a record of all su~h registrations in n suitable book,

<br />I Section Three: It shall be the duty of thp. T!arshal, chief of
<br />J' Polic<ll or other Police Officer of the Ci ty of J,a Porte, t'o take up
<br />dogs at large in violation of this OrdinRnco, to take such dogs to
<br />some suitable place, there to be impounded and detained for a per-
<br />iod of Three days., and that as. soon as possible n~t~ce shall be
<br />po~'ed at the door of such plnce of detention, describing each of
<br />said dogs. '

<br />Section ~ive: It shall be the duty of the Marshal or Chief of
<br />Police, or other Police Officer, to ofrer for salo at public outcry,
<br />any and all dogs impounded under this ordinance, a.nd not redeemed
<br />in Three days, and sell same for cash, providing that no dog shall
<br />be sold. for less than Two dolla,rs.
<br />
<br />Section Six: It shall be the duty of tho Marshal or Chiof of
<br />Police:!, or other Police Officer, to cause all dogs not red,eemed or
<br />purChased, as provided herein, to be killed in a humane manner, the
<br />carcal3ses to be disposed of in such manner as may be provided for.

<br />running at large' under the proviflions of this ordinance, where the
<br />sa,me :shall be redeemed or sold, and Fifty cents for' each dog killed
<br />all!d disposect or, which shall he paiel by the r.ity, and shall he in
<br />flitll compensation for his services under this ordinance.

<br />Section TUne: Each and eve1.Y owner of a d,og rnnnin~ at large
<br />in the streets, 'alleys or public grouncls of the Ci ty of J,a Porte in
<br />vjolation of this ordinance, !hall be deemed guilty of an offense,
<br />aY~d upon conviction thereof in the Corporation Cotlrt shall be ~inQd
