e e . -2- A RESOLUTION PROVIDING THAT NOTICE BE GIVEN OF THE INTEN- TION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, TO SUBMIT TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY, FOR APPROVAL OR REJEC- TION, ONE (1) CERTAIN AMENDMENT TO THE EXISTING HOME RULE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of La Porte deem it advisable at this time to submit to the qualified voters of the City of La Porte one (1) amendment to the existing Charteri and WHEREAS, the City Charter of the City of La Porte has not been altered or amended within two (2) years next preceding the da e . of the proposed Charter Amendment Election: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS: SECTION Ii That it is the intention of the City Commis- sion to pass an ordinance on the 4th day of March, 1960, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said City, at an election to be held for that purpose, the following amendment to the existing Charter: AMENDMENT NO. I . Article II, Section 12, of the Home Rule Charter of the City of La Porte, Texas, as amended, shall be amended so that the same shall hereafter read as follows: "Section 12. City Commission, Number, Selection, Term: The members of the City Commission of the City of La Porte shall hold their offices for a term of two (2) years, ex- cept that two (2) Commissioners elected at the regular election for City Officers to be held on April 26, 1960, shall hold their offices for the term of one (1) year as hereinafter provided, and until their successors have . been elected and duly qualified.
