<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION PROVIDING THAT NOTICE BE GIVEN OF THE INTEN- <br />TION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, TO <br />SUBMIT TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY, FOR APPROVAL OR REJEC- <br />TION, ONE (1) CERTAIN AMENDMENT TO THE EXISTING HOME RULE CHARTER <br />OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of La Porte deem <br /> <br />it advisable at this time to submit to the qualified voters of the <br /> <br />City of La Porte one (1) amendment to the existing Charteri and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Charter of the City of La Porte has not <br /> <br />been altered or amended within two (2) years next preceding the da e <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />of the proposed Charter Amendment Election: <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF <br /> <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION Ii That it is the intention of the City Commis- <br /> <br />sion to pass an ordinance on the 4th day of March, 1960, for the <br /> <br />purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said City, at an <br /> <br />election to be held for that purpose, the following amendment to <br /> <br />the existing Charter: <br /> <br />AMENDMENT NO. I <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Article II, Section 12, of the Home Rule Charter of the <br /> <br />City of La Porte, Texas, as amended, shall be amended so that the <br /> <br />same shall hereafter read as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 12. City Commission, Number, Selection, Term: <br /> <br />The members of the City Commission of the City of La Porte <br /> <br />shall hold their offices for a term of two (2) years, ex- <br /> <br />cept that two (2) Commissioners elected at the regular <br /> <br />election for City Officers to be held on April 26, 1960, <br /> <br />shall hold their offices for the term of one (1) year as <br /> <br />hereinafter provided, and until their successors have <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />been elected and duly qualified. <br /> <br />After the regular City Election to be held on the <br />
