<br />~c <br />. <br /> <br />",' <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. ,q J <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE CALLING THE REGULAR ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR A POLLING PLACE; <br />APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICIALS; PROVIDING FOR REWRN AND <br />CANVASS OF VOTES OF SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; <br />PROVIDING FOR FILING FEES FOR CANDIDATES; AND PROVIDING A <br />SA VINGS CLAUSE. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, <br />TEXAS, THAT: <br /> <br />Section 1. An election shall be held within the corporate limits <br /> <br />of the City of La Porte, Texas, on the 28th day of April, 1964; such day <br /> <br />being the fourth Tuesday in April, between the hours of seven o'clock (7:00) A. M. <br /> <br />and seven o'clock (7:00) P. M., for the purpose of electing a Mayor and a <br />e. Commissioner of said City for Position Number 2 and a Commissioner of said <br /> <br />City for Position Number 4. <br /> <br />Section 2. There shall be but one (1) polling place, which shall <br /> <br />be the City Hall, located within the corporate limits of the City of La Porte, <br /> <br />Texas. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />Mrs. H. M. Ralston <br /> <br />is hereby <br /> <br />appointed Judge of said election, <br /> <br />Mrs. Calvin Compton <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />Mrs. Otis Harrison <br /> <br />are hereby appointed Assistant <br /> <br />Judges of said election, and <br /> <br />Mrs. J. M. Higgins <br /> <br />.-----'... <br /> <br />.~ <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />are hereby appointed Clerks of said election. <br /> <br />Section 4. 'Immediately after the close of the polls on the 28th <br /> <br />day of April, 1964, the election officials shall make due return thereof to. the <br />City Commission and the City Commission shall canvass the returns on the <br />Monday next following the 28th day of April, 1964, or sooner, provided that in <br /> <br />the event of a failure, from arty cause, of the Commission to convene on the <br /> <br />said Monday then the Commission shall be convened for that purpose upon the <br /> <br />earliest day practicable thereafter, and 'shall immediately after canvassing the <br /> <br />8- <br /> <br />returns declare the results of the election and the Mayor shall immediately <br /> <br />'... . <br /> <br />........\~-._.. <br />
