ORDINANCE NO. ,q J -- AN ORDINANCE CALLING THE REGULAR ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR A POLLING PLACE; APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICIALS; PROVIDING FOR REWRN AND CANVASS OF VOTES OF SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; PROVIDING FOR FILING FEES FOR CANDIDATES; AND PROVIDING A SA VINGS CLAUSE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. An election shall be held within the corporate limits of the City of La Porte, Texas, on the 28th day of April, 1964; such day being the fourth Tuesday in April, between the hours of seven o'clock (7:00) A. M. and seven o'clock (7:00) P. M., for the purpose of electing a Mayor and a e. Commissioner of said City for Position Number 2 and a Commissioner of said City for Position Number 4. Section 2. There shall be but one (1) polling place, which shall be the City Hall, located within the corporate limits of the City of La Porte, Texas. Section 3. Mrs. H. M. Ralston is hereby appointed Judge of said election, Mrs. Calvin Compton and Mrs. Otis Harrison are hereby appointed Assistant Judges of said election, and Mrs. J. M. Higgins .-----'... .~ and are hereby appointed Clerks of said election. Section 4. 'Immediately after the close of the polls on the 28th day of April, 1964, the election officials shall make due return thereof to. the City Commission and the City Commission shall canvass the returns on the Monday next following the 28th day of April, 1964, or sooner, provided that in the event of a failure, from arty cause, of the Commission to convene on the said Monday then the Commission shall be convened for that purpose upon the earliest day practicable thereafter, and 'shall immediately after canvassing the 8- returns declare the results of the election and the Mayor shall immediately '... . ........\~-._..
