<br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br />'.' <br /> <br />permit anyone to vote absentee by personal appearance on any <br />day which is not a, ~egular working day for the Clerk's office, <br />or at any time when the Clerk's office is not open to the pub- <br />lic. The City Clerk of the City of La Porte is hereby authorized <br />and directed to appoint deputy absentee balloting clerks, as <br /> <br />necessary. <br /> <br />Section 5. Immediately after the close of the polls on <br />the 26th day of April, 1966, the election officials shall make <br /> <br />due return thereof to the City Commission of the City of La Porte, <br /> <br />, , <br />and the City Commission shall canvass said returns at the earliest <br />4It practicable time, and shall, immediately after canvassing the <br />returns, declare the results of the election. The Mayor shall <br />immediately thereafter deliver to the candidate for whom the <br />greatest number of votes has been polled for each respective <br />office, a certificate of election. Such elected officials shall <br />assume their duties within ten (10) days thereafter, Sundays <br />excluded, upon their taking the oath of office. <br />Section 6. Notice of said election shall be given by <br />publication in the LaPorte-Bayshore Sun, not less than thirty <br />(30) days prior to the date of the said election, of the following <br /> <br />notice: <br /> <br />:- <br /> <br />"NOTICE OF ELECTION" <br /> <br />I, H. P. Pfeiffer, M~yor of the City of La Porte, Texas, <br />by virtue of the power vested in me by law, do hereby <br />order that an. election be held in the City of La Porte, <br />T~xas; on the 26th day of April, 1966, for the purpose <br />of electing a Mayor; a Commissioner for Position 2; and <br />a Commissioner for Position 4; and that said election <br />shall be held at the City Hall in said City between <br />seven o'clock (7:00) A.M. and seven o'clock (7:00) P.M. <br />on said date, and the following named persons are the <br />appointed officials ,of said election , to-wit: <br /> <br />..a. <br /> <br />Presiding Judge <br /> <br />Alternate '.Presiding Judge <br /> <br />Absentee votin~ by personal appearance shall begin on the <br />20th day and shall continue through the 4th day preceding <br />the day of the. election and shall be conduc,ted at the City <br />Hall of the City of .La Porte, between the hours of nine <br />o'clock (9:00) A.M. and five o'clock (5:00) P.M., except <br />on Saturdays, and legal holidays. <br /> <br />. ...... <br /> <br />H.
