<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br />permit anyone to vote absentee by personal appearance on any <br /> <br />day which is not a r~gular worki~g day for the Clerk's office, <br />or at any time when the Clerk's office is not open to the public. <br /> <br />The City Clerk of 'the City of La Porte is hereby authorized and <br /> <br />directed to appoint deputy absentee balloti~g clerks, as necessary. <br />Section 5. Immediately after the close of the polls on <br />the 25th day of April, 1967, the election officials shall make <br /> <br />due return thereof to the City Commission of the City of La Porte, <br /> <br />and the City Commission shall canvass said returns at the earliest <br /> <br />practicable time; and shall, immediately after canvassing the <br /> <br />~ returns, declare the results of the election. The Mayor shall <br /> <br />immediately thereafter deliver to the candidate for whom the <br /> <br />,greatest number of yotes, has been polled for each respective office, <br /> <br />a certificate of election. Such elected officials shall assume <br /> <br />their duties within ten (10) days thereafter, Sundays excluded, <br /> <br />upon their taki~g the oath of office. <br />Section 6. Notice of said election shall be given by <br /> <br />publication in the La Porte-Bayshore Sun, not less than thirty <br />(30) days prior to the date OI the said election, of the following <br /> <br />notice: <br /> <br />IINOTICE OF ELECTIONII <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />I, H. P. Pfeiffer, Mayor of the City of La Porte, Texas, <br />by virtue of the ,power vested in me by law, do hereby <br />order that art election be held in the City of La Porte, <br />Texas, on the 25th day of April, 1967, for the purpose <br />of electing a Commissioner' for position 1, and a Commis- <br />sioner for position 3; and that said election shall be <br />held at the City Hall in said City between seven o'clock <br />(7:00) A.M. and seven o'clock (7:00) P.M. on said date, <br />and the following named persons are the appointed officials <br />of said election, to-wit: <br /> <br />presidi~g Ju~ge <br />Alternate presidi~g Judge <br /> <br />Mrs. H. N. Ralston <br /> <br />Mrs. Otis Harrison <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />Abasentee voting by personal appearance shall begin on the <br />20th day and shall continue thro~gh the 4th day precedi~g <br />the day of the election and shall be conducted at the C1ty <br />Hall of the City of La porte, between the hours of nine <br />o'clock (9:00) A.M. and five o'clock (5:00) P.M., except <br />on Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays. <br /> <br />H.
