Absentee voting shall be <br />conducted by the City Clerk at the sane place as provided in <br /> <br />Section 2 hereof. Voting machines shall be used for the casting <br /> <br />of absentee votes at such election. The City Clerk shall not <br /> <br />permit anyone to vote absentee by personal appearance on any day <br />which is not a regular working day for the Clerk's office, or at <br />any time when the Clerk's office is not open to the public. The <br /> <br />City Clerk of the City of La Porte is hereby authorized and <br /> <br />directed to appoint deputy absentee balloting clerks, as necessary. <br />Section 5. Immediately after the close of the polls on <br /> <br />~. the 1st day of April, 1967, the election officials shall make due <br />return thereof to the City Commission of the City of La Porte, and <br /> <br />the City Commission shall canvass said returns at the earliest <br /> <br />practicable time, and shall, immediately after canvassing the <br /> <br />returns, declare the results of the election. <br /> <br />Section 6. Notice of said election shall be given by <br /> <br />publication in the La Porte-Bayshore Sun, not less than thirty (30) <br />days prior to the date of the said election, of the following <br /> <br />notice: <br /> <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br />NOTICE OF ELECTION <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Notice is hereby given that an election will be held <br />in the City of La Porte, Texas, on the 1st day of A?ril, <br />1967, for the purpose of detennining whether or not the <br />City Commission of the City of La Porte shall enter into <br />a cooperation agreement with the City of La Porte Housing <br />Authority, in accordance with the Texas Housing Cooperation <br />Law [codified as Article 1269 (l),Vernon's Annotated Texas <br />Statutes]; that said election shall be held at the City <br />Hall in said City between seven o'clock (7:00) A.M. and <br />seven o'clock (7:00) P.M. on said date, and the following <br />named persons are the appointed officials of said election, <br />to-wit: <br /> <br />Presiding Ju~ge <br /> <br />Mrs.. H. M. Ralston <br /> <br />Alternate Presiding Judge <br /> <br />Mr~. Otis Harrison <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Absentee voting by personal appearance shall begin on <br />the 20th day and shall continue through the 4th day preced- <br />ing the day of the election and shall be conducted at the <br />City Hall of the City of La Porte, between the hours of <br />nine o'clock (9:00) A.M. and five o'clock (5:00) P.M., <br />except on Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays. <br /> <br />MRS.
