<br />.-- <br />j ~ <br />, <br />",: . <br />. .,.. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />779 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE CALLING ~HE REGULAR ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF <br />LA PORTE; DESIGNATING AN ELECTION PRECINCT AND A POLLING PLACE; <br />PROVIDING FOR THE USE OF VOTING MACHINES; APPOINTING ELECTION <br />OFFICIALS; PROVIDING FOR METHOD AND DATES OF ABSENTEE VOTING; <br />PROVIDING FOR RETURN AND CANVASS OF VOTES OF SAID ELECTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; PROVIDING FOR FILING DEADLINE AND FILING <br />FEES FOR CANDIDATES; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, <br />TEXAS, THAT: <br /> <br />Section l. An election shall be held within the <br /> <br />corporate limits of the City of La Porte, Texas, on the 23rd day <br /> <br />of April, 1968; such day being the fourth Tuesday in April, 1968, <br />,,:. between seven o'clock (7:00) A.M. and seven o'clock (7:00) P.M., <br />for the purpose of electing a Mayor of said City; a Commissioner <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />..,. <br />'~ <br /> <br />of said City for Position No.2; and a Commissioner of said City <br /> <br />for Position No.4. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Commission of the City of La Porte <br /> <br />hereby designates and establishes all of the area encompassed <br /> <br />within the corporate limits of the City of La Porte, as one <br />election precinct for this election, and the City Hall of the <br /> <br />City of La Porte is designated as the one polling place for <br />such election. Voting machines shall be used in the conduct of <br /> <br />such election. <br /> <br />Section .3. <br /> <br />is hereby <br /> <br />Mrs. Arbela Ralston <br /> <br />appointed Presiding Judge of said election, and <br />Mrs. Gladys Harrison is hereby appointed Alternate Presiding Judge <br /> <br />of said election. The maximum number of clerks which may be <br /> <br />appointed to serve at said election is three (3), who shall be <br /> <br />selected by the Presidi~g Judge or the Alternate presidi~g <br />Judge, as the case may be. <br /> <br />Section 4. Absentee voting by personal appearance <br />shall begin on the:'20th day and shall continue through the 4th <br />day preceding the day, of the election. Absentee voti~g shall be <br />conducted by the City' Clerk at the same place as provided in <br />Section 2 hereof. Voting machines shall be used for the casting <br />
