.' . -3- .. and further notice of said election shall be given by posting a copy of t~is Ordinance at the City Hall for thirty (30) days next preceding said election. Section 7. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of said election in accordance with Section 6 hereof. Section 8. Upon a candidate tendering his application on the form prescribed, the City Clerk shall furnish to such candidate all information relative to the qualifications for the office being sought; the method of placing the candidate's name . on the ballot; the amount of the required filing fee; and any other pertinent information concerning said election. Section 9. The deadline for a candidate to make application to have his name appear upon the ballot for such election, is hereb~ designated and established as five o'clock (5:00) P.M. on Saturday, March 23rd, 1968, and the City Clerk of the City of La Porte is hereby directed to open office on said date, for the sole purpose of receivi~g any such applications as may be filed before said deadline. The fili~g fee for each candidate for the office of Commissioner is hereby established at Fifty Dollars ($50.00), and the fili~g fee for Mayor is hereby tIJ~; established at the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($lOO.OO). The filing fees shall be used to defray the cost of the election, and said fees shall be prorated and any surplus shall be refunded to said candidates. Section 10. Said election shall be held in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter of the City of La Porte, and the general election laws of the State of Texas. governing general and municipal elections, so far as same may be applicable thereto. ." .to .,. .
