Absentee voti~g by personal appearance <br />shall begin on the ~Oth day antlshall continue thro~gh the 4th <br />day preceding the day of the election. Absentee voting shall be <br /> <br />conducted by the City Clerk at the same place as provided in <br /> <br />Section 2 hereof. Voti~g machines shall be used for the casting <br />of absentee votes, at such election. The City Clerk shall not <br /> <br />permit anyone to vote absentee by personal appearance on any day <br /> <br />which is not a r~gular worki~g day for the Clerk's office, or at <br />any time when the Clerk's office is not open to the public. The <br /> <br />City Clerk of the City ,of La Porte is hereby authorized and <br /> <br />directed to appoint deputy absentee balloti~g clerks, as <br /> <br />necessary. <br /> <br />Section, 5. ~hat said election shall be held in <br /> <br />accordance with the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas, <br /> <br />and all duly qualified resident electors of the City of La Porte, <br /> <br />Texas, shall be qualified to vote. <br />Section 6. That the ballots of said election shall <br /> <br />conform to the requirements of Section 2, Subsection G, of <br /> <br />Article 1066c, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes (Acts 1967, 60th <br /> <br />Legislature, R~gular Session, Chapter 36, P~ge 62), and to the <br />requirements of Chapter 6 of the Election Code of the State of <br /> <br />Texas, as amended, and the langu~ge to be printed thereon shall <br /> <br />include the following: <br /> <br />"FOR adoption of a one per cent (1%) local sales <br />and use tax within the city." <br /> <br />IIAGAINST adoption of a one per cent (1%) local <br />sales and use tax within the city.1I <br /> <br />Section 7~ Notice of said election shall be given by <br /> <br />publication on the same' day of two successive weeks in a news- <br /> <br />paper of general circulation published within $a;i;d:City of <br />La Porte, the date of the first publication to be at least <br /> <br />twenty-one (21) days prior to the date 'set herein for such <br />electioniand further notice of said election shall be given by <br /> <br />posti~g a copy of this Ordinance,' t?gether with a copy of the <br />
