<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 1601 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />provisions of this Ordinance apply to employers, their <br />representatives and/or crew leaders engaged in agricultural <br />production and/or agricultural related services (packing, packaging, <br />and processing), who recruit workers through the Texas Employment <br />Commission. <br />Section 3. Application and Bond <br />(a) An application and Bond for a Labor Agency license shall be <br />executed on blank forms prescribed and furnished by the City <br />Manager. Such forms shall include waivers and consents to credit <br />checks, character references, and pOlice investigations. An <br />application for a license to act as a Labor Agent may be made in <br />person or by mail to the City Manager upon a blank application form <br />which shall be verified by the applicant. Such application shall <br />also be accompanied by affidavits of at least five (5) creditable <br />citizens who have resided in the county in which said applicant <br />resides for at least three (3) years prior thereto, to the effect <br />that applicant or applicants are persons of good moral character. <br />The application must state the names and addresses of all partners, <br />associates and profit sharers of the business and shall list the <br />amount of their respective interest. <br />(b) The City Manager shall investigate each applicant. The City of <br />La Porte Police Department shall make available to the City Manager <br />all arrest and conviction records, and their files, on any applicant <br />for license under this Ordinance. <br />(c) The application shall be examined by the City Manager. If the <br />City Manager finds that the same complies with the law and the <br />applicant is entitled to a license and pays the annual license fee <br />of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00), a license shall be issued to the <br />applicant. Each license issued by the City Manager shall be good <br />for a period of one year from date of issuance. <br />(d) Each application for a labor agency license must be accompanied <br />by a surety or cash performance bond in the principal amount of <br />Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00). The bond shall be <br />payable to the City for the use and benefit of any damaged party and <br />
