No. 26,551eb <br /> <br />A G R E E MEN T <br /> <br />THE STATE OF TEXAS ~ <br />~ <br />COUNTY OF HARRIS ~ <br /> <br />This agreement is by and between the CITY OF LA PORTE a body <br />corporate and politic under the laws of the State of Texas, <br />hereinafter referred to as "City," and Harris County, a body corporate <br />and politic under the laws of the State of Texas, hereinafter referred <br />to as "County." <br /> <br />WIT N E SSE T H: <br /> <br />., <br /> <br />WHEREAS, County has submitted community Development Block Grants <br />to the U. S. Government, application numbers B-88-UC-48-0002, B-89-UC- <br />48-0002 and B-90-UC-48-0002, which have been approved by the U. S. <br />Government through the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City did agree to co-operate to be included in the <br />grant applications; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, included in the approved grant application was the <br />funding of the purchase and conversion of an existing building as a <br />recreation and therapy center for the physically and mentally disabled <br />in the city in the amount of $485,000.00, hereinafter referred to as <br />the "Project" or "SPORT Center"; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the County is the grantee named in the Grants charged <br />with compliance of the federal laws, rules, and regulations relating <br />to the expenditure of funds received from the U. S. Government <br />pursuant to the approved Community Development Block Grant <br />applications; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City is not familiar with such federal laws, rules, <br />and regulations relating to the expenditure of U. S. Government funds <br />under the Community Development Block Grant applications; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the County desires to assure compliance with such laws, <br />rules, and regulations relating to the expenditure of funds under the <br />community Development Block Grant applications; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the county and City mutually agree as to the need to <br />expedite this project as quickly as possible; <br />
