<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Texas Department of Health <br />Division of Food and Drugs <br /> <br />Page ~ of 35 <br /> <br />service operations shall be separated from any living or sleeping quarters by <br />complete partitioning and solid, self-closing doors. <br /> <br />(3) Laundry Facilities. <br /> <br />(A) Laundry facilities in a food service establishment shall <br />be restricted to the washing and drying of linens, cloths, uniforms and aprons <br />necessary to the operation. If such items are laundered on the premises. an <br />electric, gas, or steam dryer shall be provided and used. <br /> <br />(B) Separate rooms shall be provided for laundry facilities <br />except that such oper~tions may be conducted in storage rooms containing only <br />packaged foods or packaged single-service articles. <br /> <br />(4) Linens and Clothes Storage. <br /> <br />(A) Clean clothes and linens shall be stored 'in a clean place <br />and protected from contamination until used. <br /> <br />(B) Soiled clothes and linens shall be stored in nonabsorbent <br />containers or washable ~aundry bags until removed for laundering. <br /> <br />(5) Cleaning Equipment Storage. Maintenance and cleaning tools <br />such as brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners and similar equipment shall be <br />maintained and stored in a way that does not contaminate food, utensils, <br />equipment, or linens and shall be stored in an orderly manner to facilitate <br />the cleaning of that storage location. <br /> <br />(6) Animals. Live animals, including birds, and turtles, shall be <br />excluded from within the food service operational premises and from <br />immediately adjacent areas under the contro~ of the food service <br />establishment. This exclusion does not apply to edible fish, crustacea, shell <br />fish, or to fish in aquariums. Patrol dogs accompanying security or police <br />officers, or guide dogs accompanying blind persons shall be permitted in <br />dining areas. <br /> <br />S229.l69. Mobile Food Units. <br /> <br />(a) Mobile Food Service. ' <br /> <br />(1) General. Mobile food units shall comply with the requirements <br />of these rules, except as otherwise provided in this paragraph and in <br />paragraph (2) of this subsection. The regulatory authority may impose <br />additional requirements to protect against health hazards related to the <br />conduct of the food service establishment as a mobile operation, may prohibit <br />the sale of some or all potentially hazardous food, and when no health hazard <br />will result, may waive or modify requirements of this rule relating to <br />physical facilities, except those requirements in this rule of paragraphs (4) <br />and (5) of this subsection; subsection (b){1) of this section; and subsection <br />(c){l) and (2) of this section. <br />
