When the absence 'occurred on a regularly scheduled work day preceding or <br />following a holiday or regularly scheduled vacation day. <br />4. When the employee's return to work will pose a direct threat to the safety or <br />health of others. <br />5. When an employee is under the physical report status provision of the sick <br />leave policy. <br /> <br />SECTION 4 - REPEATED UNEXCUSED ABSENCES <br /> <br />Employees repeatedly incurring unexcused absences shall be subject to disciplinary <br />action as follows: <br /> <br />1. An employee with one (1) unexcused absences in any six (6) <br />month period shall receive a written warning by their supervisor. <br />2. An employee with two (2) unexcused absences in any (6) month <br />period shall be suspended without pay for a maximum of one (1) <br />work day and shall be placed on probation. <br />3. An employee with three (3) unexcused absences in a six (6) month period <br />shall be terminated. <br />4. Unexcused absences from work for a period of three (3) consecutive working <br />days shall be considered as a voluntary resignation. Twenty-four hour shift <br />personnel with unexcused absences of two (2) consecutive shifts shall be <br />considered as a voluntary resignation. <br /> <br />Each occurrence of an unexcused absence shall initiate an additional six month period. <br /> <br />SECTION 5 - HOLIDAY LEAVE <br /> <br />The following is a list of approved holidays: <br /> <br />New Year's Day <br />Good Friday <br />Memorial Day <br />Independence Day <br />Labor Day <br />Thanksgiving <br />Christmas Eve <br />Christmas Day <br />Employee Discretionary Day <br /> <br />January 1 <br />Friday before Easter <br />Last Monday in May <br />July 4 <br />First Monday in September <br />Fourth Thursday and Friday in November <br />December 24 <br />December 25 <br />Designated by Employee <br /> <br />If an official City holiday occurs on a Saturday, it will be observed on the Friday before. <br />If an official City holiday occurs on a Sunday, it will be observed on the Monday after. <br /> <br />Shift personnel will observe official City holidays on the actual day of observance. <br /> <br />20 <br />
