<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />City' of La Porte <br />Personnel Policies <br /> <br />CHAPTER 7 <br />CONDUCT <br /> <br />SECTION 1 - WORK STANDARDS <br /> <br />It shall be the duty of each employee to maintain high standards of cooperation, <br />efficiency, and economy in their work for the City. Department Directors shall organize <br />and direct the work of their departments to achieve these objectives. <br /> <br />If the work habits, quality or quantity of work and/or work conduct of any employee falls <br />below those standards expected by the supervisor, or outlined in the employee's job <br />description, then the employee shall be counselled regarding the matters in question. <br />Counseling of the employee in sufficient time for improvement should ordinarily precede <br />formal disciplinary action, but nothing herein shall prevent immediate formal action, as <br />provided for in Chapter 8, Section 3 of these rules, whenever required in the best interest <br />of the City. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - SOLICITATION AND DISTRIBUTION <br /> <br />Distribution of literature and solicitation on City property by employees is forbidden under <br />the following circumstances: <br /> <br />1. Employees are prohibited from distributing non-work related literature of <br />any kind during their working time or any time in working areas on City <br />property . <br /> <br />2. Employees are prohibited from engaging in solicitation of any kind during <br />the working time of the person soliciting or the working time of the <br />person being solicited. <br /> <br />SECTION 3 - GAMBLING <br /> <br />Gambling, in any form, shall not be permitted on any City property, by any City employee, <br />while on duty. . <br /> <br />SECTION 4 - PERSONAL APPEARANCE <br /> <br />All employees, regardless of work location and degree of public contact, shall dress in a <br />manner consistent with their departmental regulations. Department Directors may <br />establish uniform and equitable dress standards for the various divisions within their <br />departments. <br /> <br />SECTION 5 - EMPLOYEE FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS <br /> <br />All employees are required to manage their personal financial affairs separately from their <br />careers with the City. If or when personal financial affairs interfere with an employee's <br />ability to perform their job duties, disciplinary action may be taken. <br /> <br />27 <br />
