In order to accommodate and work with Mr. Camp, certain streets <br />and alleys require closing. Mr. Herrera advised Council there was a diagram in <br />their packet outlining this matter. The value of this street and alley closing is <br />$83,981.13. This value was based on the new appraisal method. More <br />importantly, this will create new jobs within the City. Mr. Herrera advised <br />Council staff recommended approval of this Ordinance. <br /> <br />City Attorney Knox Askins read: ORDINANCE 98-2228 - AN ORDINANCE <br />V ACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE ALLEY OF BLOCK <br />117, TOWN OF LA PORTE; A PORTION OF THE WEST "E" STREET <br />RIGHT-OF-WA Y; AND A PORTION OF THE WEST "F" STREET RIGHT- <br />OF-,WAY, TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY TEXAS; RETAINING <br />EASEMENTS FOR EXISTING WATER, SEWER, POWER, AND <br />TELEPHONE FACILITIES; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN <br />MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Gay to approve this Ordinance as read by <br />the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Maxwell.
