Joerns <br /> <br />Mayor Malone announced item six (6) has been requested to be taken to <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br />7. CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN <br />ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A <br />GENERAL WARRANTY DEED TO EARNEST H. GRABBE (Ord. 98- <br />2232)-.S. Gillett <br /> <br />Public Works Director Steve Gillett presented summary and recommendation. <br />Mr. G:illett advised Council that on November 24, 1997, they approved a <br />resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an Airport Project <br />Participation Agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation, Aviation <br />Division, to acquire land at the northwest corner of the La Porte Municipal <br />Airport for a runway protection zone. The Agreement authorizes the <br />Department to act as the City's agent in acquiring this property. <br /> <br />As part of the Project, the City is also acquiring right-of-way for the extension <br />of Fanington Blvd. With the new alignment, a portion of the Lomax School <br />Road Right-of-way south of H Street will not be required. Parcel 2 will be <br />deeded to the Owner of the adjacent property, with an aviation easement, in <br />exchange for property being acquired for the Airport. The exchange is valued <br />at $.35 per square foot, as established by formal appraisal. <br /> <br />Mr. Gi.llett recommended Council approve Ordinance 98-2232 authorizing the <br />City Manager to execute a General Warranty Deed to Earnest H. Grabbe. <br /> <br />City Attorney Knox Askins read: ORDINANCE 98-2232 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE <br />A GENERAL WARRANTY DEED TO ERNEST H. GRABBE, CONVEYING <br />THE PROPERTY THEREIN DESCRIBED; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS <br />AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDINGS <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />
