Shady Lane, La Porte, Texas, addressed the Council <br />regarding his concession bid. He advised Council he was a local vendor and <br />would like to see the City consider his bid. <br /> <br />7. CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND HARRIS <br />COUNTY HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVEWPMENT AGENCY - <br />G. Rankin <br /> <br />Planning Director Guy Rankin presented summary and recommendation to City <br />Council. Mr. Rankin informed Council the City submitted a grant application to <br />Harris County Housing and Community Development Agency requesting funds <br />for the Renovation and Construction of the Northside Park Playground Addition <br />project, which includes renovations to the Jenny Riley Recreation Center. <br /> <br />Harris County Commissioners Court approved $100,800 in Community <br />Development Block Grant (CDBG) money for this project. Included in this <br />grant are costs for engineering and construction contingencies as well as for the <br />county's administration of the grant. <br /> <br />The City accepted this grant award and agreed to match the grant by the <br />renovation of the Jennie Riley Center and by the development of a new <br />community park. <br /> <br />Staff is requesting City Council accept the formal agreement between the City of <br />La Porte and Harris County. Once this agreement is approved by Harris <br />County Commissioners Court, actual construction may begin within <br />approximately thirty (30) days of approval. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to approve this Agreement as <br />presented. Second by Council person Gay. The motion carried, 8 ayes, 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Porter, Gay, Young, <br />Clarke and Mayor Malone. <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />8. CONSIDER APPRO V AL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING A <br />RESO:LUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF NOTICE OF <br />INTENTION TO ISSUE REVENUE BONDS (Res. 98-06) J. Litchfield <br />
