<br />DISCIPLINARY ACTION - Any process taken to correct inappropriate employee <br />behavior ranging from verbal reprimand up to and including termination <br /> <br />HOLIDAY PAY - A set number of paid holidays each year, approved by the City <br />Manager <br /> <br />INTRODUCTORY EMPLOYMENT PERIOD - A designated period of time <br />following an appointment, reinstatement, promotion, demotion, or transfer in a <br />City position, during which time an employee is not eligible to dispute termination <br /> <br />NEPOTISM - Family relationships to the employee based upon consanguinity <br />(blood relatives) or affinity (relatives through marriage) <br /> <br />PAY FOR PERFORMANCE (PFP) DATE - The date employees are eligible for <br />Pay for Performance Increases <br /> <br />PROMOTION - The assignment of an employee from one grade level to another <br />grade level having a higher maximum salary. Temporary promotions can occur <br />for business necessity <br /> <br />QUALIFIED - Having the minimum education, experience, and skills required to <br />hold a certain position <br /> <br />SPECIAL AWARD DAY - A day off with pay for an employee receiving a special <br />award designated by the City <br /> <br />SUSPENSION - A disciplinary action in which the employee is restricted from <br />working and receiving pay for a specified period of time <br /> <br />TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE - Non-permanent employees hired for a specified <br />period of time <br /> <br />Employee Policies Handbook/Page 7 <br />
