<br />VIII. PERSONNEL RECORDS AND SEARCHES <br /> <br />1. Personnel Files <br /> <br />Human Resources shall maintain the official personnel files for all City <br />employees. Unless otherwise provided by law, personnel files shall be kept <br />confidential and may not be used or divulged for purposes unconnected with the <br />City's personnel management system except with the permission of the <br />employee involved. <br /> <br />Nothing herein shall prevent the dissemination of impersonal statistical <br />information. Employees shall have the right of reasonable inspection of their <br />personnel file under procedures prescribed by Human Resources. Employees <br />may request and receive a copy of their personnel file or any portion thereof <br />under procedures prescribed by the Human Resources. <br /> <br />Non-employees who wish to inspect a current or former employee's personnel <br />file shall either make a formal written request through Human Resources under <br />the Open Records Act or subpoena the desired records through a court order. <br /> <br />2. Searches <br /> <br />The City may conduct inspections or searches of City property with or without <br />prior notice. The City may search City property regardless of whether the <br />property is used exclusively by the employee and locked. Examples of City <br />property include, but are not limited to City owned: <br /> <br />1. Vehicles <br />2. Workspaces <br />3. Desks <br />4. Lockers <br />5. Machinery <br />6.
