SECTION 1 - BASIC SERVICES OF ENGINEER <br />1.1 General <br />1.1.1 ENGINEER shall perform professional services as hereinafter stated which include <br />normal civil, structural, mechanical, electrical engineering services and other Engineering <br />disciplines as appropriate and normal architectural services incidental thereto. <br />1. 1.2 Advise OWNER of need for services of subcontractors for performance of special <br />services, as required from time to time during the Project; he shall detail these needs and present <br />proposals thereon to the OWNER for approval. <br />1.2 Preliminary Phase- after written authorization to proceed, ENGINEER shall: <br />1.2.1 Consult with OWNER to determine his requirements for the Project and review available <br />data. <br />1.2.2 Attend preliminary conference with the OWNER and other interested parties regarding <br />the Project. <br />1.2.3 Prepare a preliminary engineering study and report on the Project in sufficient detail to <br />indicate generally the problems involved and the alternate solutions available to the OWNER, to <br />include preliminary layouts, and engineer's estimate of probable construction cost for the Project, <br />and to set forth clearly the ENGINEER's recommendations. <br />1.2.4 Review reports of previous engineering studies made for the OWNER pertaining to this <br />Project, collect other relevant data including existing facilities. ENGINEER shall analyze such <br />data and OWNER's needs and shall generate alternative plans to physically satisfy the OWNER's <br />needs. Detailed cost analysis shall be made of each alternative and benefits analyzed and <br />-2- <br />
