Inventory - An inventory was completed of the existing parks, open space, paths and trails in and around La Porte, as well as other facilities that provide recreational opportunities for the citizens of La Porte. The plan also includes a general review of the current condition of each existing city park, and provides recommendations to address needed improvements. Many of the recommendations for existing parks result from significant use and the popularity of the major parks in the city. . Public Involvement - An extensive public input process was used to gather opinions and ideas for the Master Plan. The process included a City Council workshop, a citywide telephone survey, interviews with key citizens and sports groups, a city council hearing and a citywide public meeting. . Goals and Objectives - A series of key goals and major actions are included in the plan to help guide policy development and decision making over the next few years.
