This grant was used to create the position of the Victims Assistance Liaison. The current <br />grant period ends August 31, 2005. It has been determined that the continuation of this position would have to be <br />grant funded. We would like approval to authorize the City Manager to submit for a continuation grant made <br />possible through the Attorney General's Office. This grant, Victim Coordinator and Liaison Grant will be for a one <br />year period, in the amount of $39,000.00 which includes salary and benefits. The City will have to absorb <br />approximately $4,250.00 in its personnel operating budget to cover this position. <br /> <br />The Victims Assistance Liaison position has proved to be an asset to the City as well as the Community. This <br />program has inured the citizens of La Porte who have become victims of crimes, receive the assistance that they may <br />need.
