Applications <br />Anyone seeking employment, promotion, transfer, or reemployment with the City must complete <br />and submit an official City application for the position desired. All information set forth on an <br />application is subject to verification. Applications will normally be considered active until the <br />vacancy is filled. Applications for employment will be considered by the Department Director or <br />their designee. <br />Hirina Process <br />Applicants will be required to submit to an oral interview, a post -offer physical examination, drug <br />and alcohol screening, as well as a background investigation. A written exam may also be <br />required for certain positions. A credit check may be required for positions involving financial <br />transactions. A driving record check may also be required for employees whose position <br />requires driving a city vehicle. <br />Disqualification <br />Applicants may be disqualified from consideration for one or more of the following reasons: <br />• Failure to meet the minimum qualifications necessary for performance of the duties for the <br />position; <br />• If the applicant previously worked for the City and was terminated, or resigned in lieu of <br />termination, due to unsatisfactory performance or conduct and/or violation of a City policy or <br />procedure; <br />• If their employment will result in a violation of the City's Nepotism Policy; <br />• False statements or material omissions on the application form or during the application <br />process; <br />• Failing any of the City's employment requirements including, but not limited to, drug testing; <br />• The applicant commits or attempts to commit a fraudulent act at any stage of the selection <br />process; <br />• The applicant is not legally permitted to work in the United States; <br />• The applicant failed to meet the posted deadline for filing an application <br />• The applicant has been convicted of a crime which could result in that applicant's <br />employment being detrimental to the integrity of the City's service <br />• The applicant applied for a position which requires operation of a motor vehicle and has an <br />unsatisfactory driving record or an invalid driver's license, or the applicant lacks the required <br />type of driver's license for the position sought. <br />• Any other reason deemed to be in the best interest of the City <br />52 <br />
