CHAPTER NINE <br />EMPLOYEE SAFETY <br />9.01 General Safety <br />The City of La Porte desires to provide a safe working environment for its employees. To <br />accomplish this, the City will provide all reasonable safeguards to ensure safe working <br />conditions. The City recognizes the need to follow good safety principles, and therefore, <br />believes that no job is so important and no order is so urgent that we cannot take time to <br />perform our work safely. The cooperation of all City employees in observing safety rules and <br />procedures will provide safe working conditions and accident free performance, which will <br />benefit both the employees and the citizens of La Porte. <br />9.02 Job Injuries <br />An employee must immediately notify his/her supervisor of any on the job injury. Failure to <br />notify the supervisor is grounds for disciplinary action. The supervisor shall notify the Human <br />Resources Manager immediately. <br />The supervisor shall complete an Incident Report and submit it to the Human Resources Office <br />within two (2) days of the incident. <br />9.03 Hazard Reporting <br />It is the responsibility of each employee to identify dangerous and hazardous conditions in and <br />around their work area and report them to their supervisor, so that corrective action can be <br />taken. <br />9.04 Incidents and Claims <br />Employees must immediately notify his/her supervisor of any incident or claim involving the City <br />of La Porte. The supervisor shall notify the Department Director and the Human Resources <br />Manager immediately. <br />The supervisor shall complete an Incident Report and submit it to the Human Resources <br />Department within two (2) days. <br />62 <br />
