INTRODUCTORY EMPLOYMENT PERIOD - A designated period of time following an <br />appointment, reinstatement, promotion, demotion, or transfer in a City position, during which <br />time an employee is not eligible to dispute termination <br />PROMOTION — The assignment of an employee from one grade level to another grade level <br />having a higher maximum salary. Temporary promotions can occur for business necessity <br />QUALIFIED — Having the minimum education, experience, and skills required to hold a certain <br />position <br />SUPERVISORY PAY — Pay provided to an employee who is temporarily acting as a supervisor <br />in the absence of a supervisor. <br />SUSPENSION — A disciplinary action in which the employee is restricted from working and <br />receiving pay for a specified period of time <br />TEMPORARY/SEASONAL EMPLOYEE — Non -permanent employees hired for a specified <br />period of time <br />UNEXCUSED ABSENCE - When an employee fails to report for work or to remain at work <br />without proper notification, authorization, or excuse <br />VOLUNTARY RESIGNATION — takes place when an employee of his or her own accord <br />chooses to cease his or her employment with the City. <br />67 <br />
