<br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br />BOARDS, COMMITTEES AND COMMISSIONS SCHEDULE AND <br />PROCEDURE FOR <br />RECRUITMENT, APPOINTMENT AND NOTIFICATION PROCESS <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE WILL MAKE <br />APPOINTMENTS FOR TERMS EXPIRING ON AUGUST 30TH OF THE YEAR <br />INDICATED OR AS OTHERWISE DESIGNATED. <br /> <br />SCHEDULE/PROCEDURES: <br /> <br />APRIL <br /> <br />· Boards and Commissions Handbook and application form is updated and printed <br />by the Assistant City Secretary. <br /> <br />· A memorandum is prepared by the Assistant City Secretary to each department <br />inquiring as to whether or not there have been any attendance problems with <br />members of a committee, board or commission member. <br /> <br />MAY/JUNE - (The annual appointment process will not begin until all Council <br />members have been elected in the General and Run-Off Elections) <br /> <br />· Mayor and City Secretary will meet with any newly elected Council Members and <br />explain the boards and commissions process. <br /> <br />· The City Secretary will provide City Council with list of all current and members <br />whose terms of appointment are expiring on August 30. The list will indicate <br />vacancies, applicants eligible for reappointment, single member district <br />appointments, and appointments made by the entire body of City Council. In <br />addition, all applications on file will be sent to the City Council for consideration. <br />Current appointees whose terms of appointment expire in August are identified. <br />(See Attached List) <br /> <br />· The City Secretary will inform City Council of attendance problems of any <br />committee, board or commission member. <br /> <br />· Enabling ordinances will also be forwarded to City Council as needed. <br /> <br />· Information is shared with staff members serving as liaisons to a committee, <br />board or commission member. <br /> <br />· Mayor and Council will provide the City Secretary with direction on whether. <br />application forms and a handbook need to be mailed to any citizens or <br />organizations. Applications will only need to be mailed if recruitment is needed <br />
