9. COUNCIL COMMENTS Hear announcements concerning matters appearing on the agenda; <br />items of community interest; and/or inquiries of staff regarding specific factual information or <br />existing policy from the Mayor, Councilpersons, and City staff, for which no formal action will <br />be discussed or taken. <br />Councilpersons congratulated those recognized earlier in the meeting, encouraged EMS and Parks to <br />hang on to Kelly and Lindsay, and offered condolences to the Hanks family; urged those interested to <br />support and not oppose recyclops; mentioned with regret the closing of The Medicine Shop and lauded <br />its owner, Neil; and fondly remembered former Lomax and City of La Porte City Clerk/City Secretary„ <br />chair of the Planning Commission, and Councilperson Betty T. Waters, who passed last week. <br />10. EXECUTIVE SESSION <br />a. Texas Government Code Sec. 551.071 (1)(A) -Pending or Contemplated Litigation: The City <br />Council will meet in closed session with the City Manager and legal counsel to discuss SV <br />Sons HWY 146, LLC vs. City of La Porte, Texas. [George Vie, Counsel for City; Clark Askins, <br />Assistant City Attorney; Corby Alexander, City Manager] <br />b. Texas Government Code Sec. 551.072 - Deliberation regarding the purchase, exchange, <br />lease or value of real property: The City Council will meet in closed session with the City <br />Manager, Director of Public Works, and Assistant City Attorney to discuss the lease of real <br />property at the La Porte Municipal Airport. <br />The Council convened in executive session at 7:17 p.m. <br />11. RECONVENE into open session and consider action, if any, on items) discussed in <br />executive session. <br />The Council reconvened into open session at 8:18 p.m. Regarding item a, the Council met with attorney_ <br />George Vie. via Zoom.
