<br />Jacinto College, Harris County, among others) to sustain and gro <br />economy by improving the movement of goods and people in ways th <br />embrace our community character and respect the value and enjoym <br />living and working in La Porte; while at the same time, improvin <br />appearance of our corridors. A refocus on our historical roots i <br />tourism to the area which spurred a coordinated reinvestment in <br />Street and Sylvan Beach areas through better connections, redeve <br />and marketing. All of which further broadened our tax base. <br /> <br />Our government <br />has become a top notch municipal corporation, known <br />for finding the right balance between progressiveness and innovaon in <br />achieving our vision of a highly livable, quality, and sustainab <br />while remaining diligent with our tax dollars and strategic abou <br />expenditures. We continued our investment in those areas that imoved <br />our quality of life. We completed our redevelopment of all parks <br />recreation areas across the City, and we invested in new parks ( <br />recreational fitness center on the west side of town). We contin <br />investment in the trail system by completing the remaining six m <br />20 mile system. Now we have a fully interconnected system of sidewalks and <br />community trails, which provides City-wide and region-wide acces <br />places of work, and other community gathering areas. Our governm <br />continued to sponsor City-wide cultural events that have helped <br />unified sense of community for all of La Porte. Our existing inf <br />been maintained and well-planned so that we continue to have ade <br />facilities and services. The transportation system has improved <br />regional mobility, not only on our roadways, but on our rail netwo <br />system, bus routes, and airport. We have continuously improved t, <br />wastewater, and drainage systems to meet guidelines and to provi <br />necessary operating capacities to serve expanded and new industr <br />have continued to give us a competitive advantage over less prep <br />communities. Our excellent public safety services have continued <br />feel safe. Finally, an overall, unyielding commitment to excelle <br />permeated through all levels of staff, which has resulted in gre <br />responsiveness to our needs and for those who visit or do busine <br /> <br />City limits. <br /> <br />Our character and appearance <br /> has continued to improve over the <br />past 10 years through aggressive implementation of our vision.
