Gas prices had risen approximately 30% percent since the August
invasion of Kuwait by Iraq but have since fallen to approximately their
original level. Our total City wide Gas usage for last year was $220,000. If
we project this usage and price change for the quarter, we probably expended
$16,500 more in the first quarter for gas than we had originally budgeted.
Because gas is charged over such a large base of the City and impacts all
funds, it can easily be absorbed without any corrective action.

I
I
I
I
I
I

I
I

4
