CENTERPOINT ENERGY RESOURCES CORP. <br /> D/B/A CENTERPOINT ENERGY ENTEX <br /> AND CENTERPOINT ENERGY TEXAS GAS <br /> GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS <br /> APPLICABLE TO NATURAL GAS SERVICE IN TEXAS <br /> FOR JURISDICTIONS FOR WHICH TARIFF IS APPROVED ON OR AFTER MAY 23,2017 <br /> 8. REFUSAL TO INSTITUTE SERVICE AND TERMINATION OF SERVICE <br /> (a) Refusal of service. <br /> (1) Compliance by applicant. The Company may decline to serve an applicant for whom <br /> service is available from previously installed facilities until such applicant has complied <br /> with the state and municipal rules, regulations or laws, and with approved rules and <br /> regulations of the Company on file with the appropriate regulatory authority governing <br /> the service applied for,or for the following reasons: <br /> (A) the applicant's installation or equipment is known to be hazardous or of such <br /> character that satisfactory service cannot be given; <br /> (B) the applicant is indebted to any Company for the same kind of service as that <br /> applied for; provided, however, that in the event the indebtedness of the <br /> applicant for service is in dispute,the applicant shall be served upon complying <br /> with the applicable deposit requirement; <br /> (C) the applicant refuses to make a deposit if applicant is required to make a deposit <br /> under these rules; <br /> (D) where an unsafe condition exists at any point on Consumer's premises; <br /> (E) for use of gas in violation of Company's rules; <br /> (F) in the event Company's representatives are refused access to such premises for <br /> any lawful purpose; <br /> (G) when Company's property on the Consumer's premises is tampered with, <br /> damaged,or destroyed; <br /> (2) Applicant's recourse. In the event that the Company shall refuse to serve an applicant <br /> under the provisions of these rules,the Company shall inform the applicant of the basis of <br /> its refusal and that the applicant may file a complaint with the appropriate regulatory <br /> authority thereon. <br /> (3) Insufficient grounds for refusal to serve. The following shall not constitute sufficient <br /> cause for refusal of service to a present residential or commercial customer or applicant: <br /> (A) delinquency in payment for service by a previous occupant of the premises to be <br /> served; <br /> (B) failure to pay for merchandise or charges for non-utility service purchased from <br /> the Company; <br />
