0 <br />• <br />• - promoting the private development of the city's <br />bay front properties; and <br />ensuring that the bay front area, both public and <br />private, meet environmental standards. <br />- Education Committee: <br />Goal: To develop joint -venture projects that will enhance the <br />city's academic needs. <br />Proposed recommendations include projects such as: <br />- establishing a community education advisory committee; <br />- improving the city's public library system; and <br />- promoting both the La Porte Independent School <br />District's and the bay area's colleges and <br />universities educational programs. <br />- Medical Awareness Committee: <br />Goal: To enhance the health and well-being of all La <br />Porte/Bayshore residents. <br />• Proposed recommendations include projects such as: <br />• <br />- appointing a Medical Advisory Committee to evaluate <br />health related issues that may impact the city; <br />- conducting a city-wide health assessment study; and <br />- constructing a multi -disciplinary medical complex. <br />- Transportation Committee: <br />Goal: To address the city's transportation needs, with safety <br />being the foremost consideration. <br />Proposed recommendations include projects such as: <br />- identifying safe alternative transportation methods <br />to facilitate increasing vehicular movement; <br />- enhancing the city's and bay area's present rail <br />system; and <br />- addressing the city's current and future roles in the <br />field of air transportation. <br />-v- <br />
