• positive business climate; and <br />resolving industry concerns through the establishment <br />of a city/industry committee. <br />- Port Committee: <br />Goal: To educate the La Porte/Bayshore Community of the <br />economic impact placed on this area by the: Barbour's <br />Cut Terminal, Bay Port Terminal, Seaman's Center, and <br />other port -related industries. <br />Proposed recommendations include projects such as: <br />- establishing formal communication lines with local <br />civic groups; <br />- creating a port -appointed citizen advisory committee; <br />soliciting new port -related projects (i.e. observation <br />tower, multi -story World Trade Center, and a port - <br />related warehouse district); and <br />- officially recognizing the Barbour's Cut Seaman's <br />Center as the city's "goodwill ambassadors." <br />- Tourism, Business Development & Marketing Committee: <br />• Goal: To identify marketing concepts that utilize existing <br />community assets to attract tourism, and entice new <br />recreational and retail businesses to the La <br />Porte/Bayshore area. <br />Proposed recommendations include projects such as: <br />- developing a city-wide marketing plan; <br />- establishing a tourism advisory board; <br />- developing a Main Street enhancement program; and <br />- supporting the promotion of the San Jacinto <br />Battleground State Park. <br />- Fiscal Committee: <br />Goal: To identify financial resources that will fund proposed <br />La Porte Visions 189 projects. <br />Proposed recommendations include projects such as: <br />- exploring the use of new financial incentive <br />resources; <br />
