In <br />addition, CJD funding will provide additional legal staff who are specialized in the <br />prosecution of these difficult cases. In addition to the special physical vulnerability of <br />elderly persons, this population is fast becoming a lucrative target for fraud schemes. <br />Many elderly people are unaware of the kind of frauds that target their age group, and <br />most do not know what resources are available to them to help recover from such <br />frauds. Finally, the Houston-Galveston Area Council covers thirteen counties in which <br />on. As <br />for inter-agency cooperation in dealing with crime ahs become increasingly critical. <br />However, such cooperation calls for a degree of sophistication and coordination that far <br />ability of these agencies to maximize the efficiency and utility of existing resources". A <br />financial award to address our application will allow our agency to participate in <br />addressing these identified needs as quoted from the Harris County Community Plan. <br />Our acquisition of forensic digital analysis equipment, as staffed with personnel that we <br />already have within our agency, will fill in the gaps in resources identified in the <br />community plan, allow us to strengthen evidence in criminal investigations, provide <br />stronger evidence in successful criminal prosecutions, stop repeated exploitation of <br />potential victims, and address repeat and non-repetitive offenders in the victimization of <br />children and adults. It would also enable us to share these critical resources with our law <br />enforcement partners in the Houston Metropolitan area, shortening critical wait times for <br />forensic examination of digital evidence. <br /> <br />Goal Statement: <br /> <br />Provide a brief description of the overall goals and objectives for this project. <br />Enter a description for the overall goals and objectives: <br /> <br />We desire to attain forensic digital analysis equipment to address critical criminal <br />investigation related to child abuse, child pornography, drug trafficking, serious crimes <br />against persons, and other serious criminal offenses. The acquisition of such equipment <br />is critically needed to address identified gaps in our community plan (Harris County: <br />2012-2013), and to positively impact unacceptable wait times for such analysis of digital <br />evidence. We are ready to commit to the sharing of such resources to impact our <br />metropolitan area, as well, in order to ensure a wider impact from such a financial <br />award.
