within your previous grant application. (Data may be calculated on a pro-rated basis
depending on how long the current or previous year's project has been operating.)
Enter your current grant's progress:

NA

Project Summary:

Briefly summarize the entire application, including the project's problem statement,
supporting data, goal, target group, activities, and objectives. Be sure that the summary
is easy to understand by a person not familiar with your project and that you are
confident and comfortable with the information if it were to be released under a public
information request.
Enter your summary statement for this project:

The problems we hope to address include addressing resources gaps as identified in the
Harris County Community Plan (2012-2013) as outlined above, as well as addressing
shortages in critical resources related to forensic digital analysis in the Houston area for
digital items related to criminal investigations. Acquisition of such equipment will allow
us to address such gaps, collaborate and cooperate with other area law enforcement
agencies, shorten unacceptable wait times for digital analysis, and assist the district
attorney in successful prosecutions. Target groups include assistance and cooperation
with area law enforcement agencies, successful investigations and prosecutions to
impact suspects to incarcerate them, and providing closure for the many victims of
various crimes to include child sexual exploitation, crimes against the elderly, crimes
against persons generally, drug trafficking, etc. As repeated from above, this project will
allow the La Porte Police Department to acquire forensic digital analysis equipment
necessary to examine digital evidence such as texts, photographs, spreadsheets, word
documents, etc that are created and utilized by the criminal elements in their
commitment of crimes that impact children, the elderly and other innocent elements of
our population. Such equipment is necessary in the successful filing of charges on these
criminals, and in the prosecution of them. The district attorney has mandated that such
analysis of digital evidence will be necessary before any charges can be filed, or
indictments handed down. Without such equipment, criminal remain free pending
prosecution to carry out further victimizations. Such equipment will also us to shorten
critical waiting lists for analysis. There are only two labs in the Houston area and one of
those restricts its analysis to child victim cases only. Both have waiting lists that are
unacceptable for such critical cases.

Selected Project Activities:

ACTIVITY PERCENTAGE: DESCRIPTION
Awarded funds will be utilized to purchase digital analysis
equipment to be used in forensic investigations to analyze
Investigation 100.00
and retrieve critical digital data and images, to be used in
criminal investigations in order to prosecute and
А
DƩğƓƷ bǒƒĬĻƩ ЋЏВЌЋЉЋ
