<br />. <br /> <br />(b) Ally ambulance licensed under this chapter must maintain with the chief EMS <br />officer a statement of their current medical director including; name, business <br />address, business telephone number, and Texas medical license number and <br />expiration date, DEA controlled substance number if any controlled substances are <br />carried and used on said ambulance. Controlled substances shall be considered any <br />Schedule 2,3, or 4 drugs. These are inclusive of but not limited to; morphine, <br />diazepam, Versed, Nubain, or any other analgesics or benzodiazepines that may be <br />carried on ambulances. <br /> <br />Section 12 Inspection of ambulances <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />(a) Subsequent to issuance of any ambulance license hereunder, the chief EMS officer <br />shall cause to be inspected each such vehicle, its equipment, premises, and <br />personnel, whenever deemed necessary. All licensed ambulances shall be subject to <br />unannounced spot inspection and in any event will be inspected at least once per <br />year. A written report will be generated and copies will be forwarded to the <br />company involved and filed at the City of La Porte EMS station. This report wilt' <br />make note of any deficiencies found and specify a time to insure compliance and <br />date for re-inspection. All safety inspections mandated by the State of Texas and <br />federal law must be adhered to as well. <br />(b) A copy of each initial, semiannual, spot, or other such inspection shall be forwarded <br />to the licensee at his/her business address. <br />(c) The chief EMS officer shall have the authority to immediately suspend any <br />ambulance company, attendant, or driver's license issued pursuant to this chapter if <br />inspection reveals deficiencies or violations which might endanger a patient or the <br />public. <br /> <br />Section 13 Variances to chapter requirements <br /> <br />It shall be unlawful for a licensed ambulance to respond to any call in the City of <br />La Porte without the specific knowledge and approval of the City of La Porte EMS. <br />Should a licensed company receive a call from a citizen for non-emergent transport to a <br />skilled medical facility, that company bears the obligation to notifY the City of La Porte <br />Police Department which will immediately dispatch a city EMS unit to that scene. If the <br />patient wishes transport to a non-approved facility or is of a non-emergent nature, the <br />licensed ambulance company shall be allowed to transport the patient provided there will <br />be no compromise of the patient's care. <br /> <br />Nursing homes shall for purposes of this chapter be considered skilled facilities. <br />Any company that serves a nursing home by transporting non-emergent patients to <br />hospitals, emergency departments, physician appointments, dialysis, or any other long- <br />term therapies not listed, shall be duly licensed to operate in the City of La Porte. <br /> <br />Licensure is not required in instances of mutual aid situations. Municipal <br />agencies and not for profit agencies are specifically exempted from these requirements. <br /> <br />. <br />
