~,Y~ <br />t.. <br />~ ~' <br />fem. <br />~;~`) <br />3 <br />9"'-. <br />1~°; <br />~~~ <br />S ~ <br />~~ <br />''~ <br />,~•, <br />:.... <br />~;'~ <br /> <br />RE SOLUTIOPI <br />ti'HEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Commission <br />of the City of La Porte that efforts are being made to close the Southern <br />Pacific Railroad Depot in the City of La Porte, Texas; and, <br />Z~JF~REAS, the nearest existing facility to perform the same services <br />is approximately fourteen (].1~) miles away; and, <br />Z1I~REAS, there exists no other such facility nearer than the City <br />of Pasadena in one direction and the City of Texas City in ahother direction; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, the immediate area is increasing in population, manufacturing <br />and other types of business requiring these facilities; and, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY CO?~"QSSION OF ii-iE CITY OF <br />LA FORTE: <br />1. Any effort to reduce the Southern Pacific Railroad facilities <br />and services in this area would cause unnecessary business difficulties <br />and loss of trade in this area. <br />2. The City Commission of the City of La Porte, is unalterable <br />opposed to the closing of these facilities. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Dunham, second by Stabs, that the Resolution authorizing the <br />City of La Porte to borrow the sum of Eleven Thousand One Hundred Dollars <br />from the La Porte State Bank, to pay for Fire Truck, be adopted. The <br />Resolution is as follows: <br />PESOLUTION <br />STATE OF TEXAS <br />COUI~?T'i OF HARRIS <br />RESOLUTION A UTHORIZTPIG THE CITY OF LA PORTS TO BORR04J THE SUM OF ELEVEN <br />THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($11,100.00), TO BE EVID ENCED BY TAX ANTI- <br />CIPATION T10TE, PAYABLE 0'JT OF CURRENT TAXES COLLECTED DURIP:G THE FISCAL <br />YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1961, AND ENDING JUNE 3V, 1962, AND FUP~ THER <br />SECURED BY A CHATTEL MOF~TGAGE ON ONE CERTAIN FIRE TRUCK. <br />ti~dl-~REAS, it has been determined by the city Commission of the City <br />of La Porte that a necessity exists to borrow the sum of Eleven Thousand <br />One Hundred Dollars ($11,100.00) , for payment of balance of the pur chase <br />consideration of that one certain Fire Truck, hereinafter described, and <br />that the anticipated current revenue from ad valorem taxes will amount <br />to approximately TWO HUNDRED TH IRTY-ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUPIDRED SIX TY- <br />FIVE DOLLARS ($231,86y.00); and <br />°?fIEREASa the La Porte State Bank of La Porte, Texas, has agreed to <br />make the City a loan in said sum, to be paid ~•d.th four percent (4%) per <br />annum interest thereon, on or before the 30th day of June, 1962; and <br />~, <br />,~~, <br />
