~,Y~ t.. ~ ~' fem. ~;~`) 3 9"'-. 1~°; ~~~ S ~ ~~ ''~ ,~•, :.... ~;'~ RE SOLUTIOPI ti'HEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Commission of the City of La Porte that efforts are being made to close the Southern Pacific Railroad Depot in the City of La Porte, Texas; and, Z~JF~REAS, the nearest existing facility to perform the same services is approximately fourteen (].1~) miles away; and, Z1I~REAS, there exists no other such facility nearer than the City of Pasadena in one direction and the City of Texas City in ahother direction; and, WHEREAS, the immediate area is increasing in population, manufacturing and other types of business requiring these facilities; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY CO?~"QSSION OF ii-iE CITY OF LA FORTE: 1. Any effort to reduce the Southern Pacific Railroad facilities and services in this area would cause unnecessary business difficulties and loss of trade in this area. 2. The City Commission of the City of La Porte, is unalterable opposed to the closing of these facilities. Carried. Motion by Dunham, second by Stabs, that the Resolution authorizing the City of La Porte to borrow the sum of Eleven Thousand One Hundred Dollars from the La Porte State Bank, to pay for Fire Truck, be adopted. The Resolution is as follows: PESOLUTION STATE OF TEXAS COUI~?T'i OF HARRIS RESOLUTION A UTHORIZTPIG THE CITY OF LA PORTS TO BORR04J THE SUM OF ELEVEN THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($11,100.00), TO BE EVID ENCED BY TAX ANTI- CIPATION T10TE, PAYABLE 0'JT OF CURRENT TAXES COLLECTED DURIP:G THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1961, AND ENDING JUNE 3V, 1962, AND FUP~ THER SECURED BY A CHATTEL MOF~TGAGE ON ONE CERTAIN FIRE TRUCK. ti~dl-~REAS, it has been determined by the city Commission of the City of La Porte that a necessity exists to borrow the sum of Eleven Thousand One Hundred Dollars ($11,100.00) , for payment of balance of the pur chase consideration of that one certain Fire Truck, hereinafter described, and that the anticipated current revenue from ad valorem taxes will amount to approximately TWO HUNDRED TH IRTY-ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUPIDRED SIX TY- FIVE DOLLARS ($231,86y.00); and °?fIEREASa the La Porte State Bank of La Porte, Texas, has agreed to make the City a loan in said sum, to be paid ~•d.th four percent (4%) per annum interest thereon, on or before the 30th day of June, 1962; and ~, ,~~,
