Mr. Richard Florence requested that the City sponsor the Port <br />Haven Marina, in filing an application to the Corp of Engtneers <br />for assistance in dredging and maintaining the channel into <br />the bay serving the Marina. He further stated that there would <br />be no cost to the City of La Porte. <br />The City Attorney was requested to correspond with the Federal <br />Government about the details of such a request. <br />+ + + <br />4. Mr. Bob Jones advtsed the Commission that the garbage problem <br />at the Colonial Oaks Apartments is very bad. The City Clerk <br />was requested to contact the owners by letter. <br />+ + t <br />5. Mr. W. M. Hughes, Tyler, Texas, requested that the City <br />lease the Oil and Gas rights at the La Porte Municipal Airport <br />to him at X10.00 per acre, on a short term lease (3 years). <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, seconded by Commissioner <br />Stabs that the City enter into a tentative agreement with W. M. <br />Hughes, subject to approval of Federal Aviation Agency. Motion <br />carried. <br />+ + + <br />6. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd <br />that the City Engineer be authorized to advertise for bids on <br />a mowing machine. Motion card ed. <br />+ + + <br />7. A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, seconded by Commissioner <br />Boyle that the City pay .100.00 toward the expenses of bringing <br />the Houston Symphony Orchestra to La Porte. Further that the <br />check by made payable to the Houston Symphony Sociefy. Motion <br />carr t ed. <br />+ + + <br />8. The Commission discussed the possibility of creating a Public <br />Housing Authority. Action was tabled. <br />+ + + <br />9. Estimate No. 2 from Buddy Warren Company, lnc., in the amount <br />of $35,296.70 was presented. <br />A letter from Utility Supply Company requesting that the check <br />be made payable to them, was read. <br /> <br /> <br />
