A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, and seconded by Commissioner Shepherd that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute a Lein release for Randell Johnson, Lots 23, 24 Block 69 Bayfront. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that a letter be written to the State Highway Department approving the use of West "D" Street by the Texas Highway Department to enlarge, deepen and otherewise improve the existing drainage ditch for drainage of new State Highway 146 from 10th Street to Little Cedar Bayor. Motion carried. + + + 6. The Commission authorized that a series of Collection letters be prepared and mailed to persons with delinquent accounts. + + + 7. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton that Estimate #{2 for John G. Holland, in the amount of X10,672.20, be approved for payment. Motion carried. + + + 8. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that Guree Hawkins be authorized to attend the Southwest Regional Short School, August 21 thru 24, in Beaumont. Motion carried. • + + + 9. The City Engineer advised the Commission that the street paving bids were high, and all the work cannot be done wtth the available money. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner aoyle and carried that all bids on the paving and Strom sewer work be rejected.
