Commissioner Soy le made a motion, seconded by Commissioner <br />Compton, that office space for the Texas Department of Welfare <br />be rented as of August 20, 1968, from the low bidder, Frank <br />Baker, location 312 West Main, X92.50 per month, with the City <br />furnishing the water and garbage services. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyte, seconded by Commissioner <br />Compton, and carried, that Ordinance No. 794 be passed on first <br />and final reading. <br />CAPTION: <br />AN ORDINANCE ORDERING A SPEC/AL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY <br />OF LA FORTE, TEXAS, ON THE QUESTION OF THE ADOPTION OF A ONE <br />PER CENT (1%) LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX WITHIN THE CITY; DESIGNATING <br />THE DAY OF THE ELECTION AND THE POLLING PLACE; APPOINTING ELECTION <br />OFFICIALS THE~~EFOR; PROVIDING THAT ALL DULY QUALIFIED RESIDENT <br />ELECTORS SHALL BE QUALIFIED TO VOTE; PRESCRIBING FORM OF BALLOT; <br />PROVIDING FOR NOTICE OF ELECTION; CONTAINING OTHER PROVISIONS <br />RELATING TO SAID ELECTION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />+ + + <br />7. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton, <br />that the regular meeting of September 2, 1968 be held on September 8, <br />1968, and the regular meeting of September 16, 1968 be held on <br />September 23, 1968. Motion carried. <br />+ + + <br />8. Commissioner Burgin presented a letter from Mrs. Norme J. Hootman, <br />requesting that street lights be placed at the corner of Jefferson <br />and Bayshore and the corner of Jefferson and Park. (See Exhibit No. 3). <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Burgin, seconded by Commissioner <br />Boyle, and carried, that the two lights be authorized. Motion carried. <br />+ + + <br />9. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Burgin, <br />that the authorization of Mayor Pfeiffer and Commissioner Boyle, fo <br />construct the Carroll Street sewer line, be ratified. Motion carried. <br />+ + + <br />10. The City Clerk stated that Mrs. Maudfe Hammon, has requested that <br />she be allowed to replace her mobil home, placed at 117 North Brownell <br />by special permit. <br />Commissioner Burgin made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, that <br />the City not grant any more trailers in the Ctty, and that the request <br />to replace the existing trailer be denied.
