• • <br />Mayor Smith asked if there were any further comments <br />on the proposed zoning in Fairmont Park. There being <br />none, he declared the hearing on zoning in Fairmont <br />Park closed. <br />+ + + <br />Mayor Smith then called for the second request of the <br />Public Hearing, to rezone 34.74 acres of the Wharton <br />Weems Estate from Residential to Commercial. <br />Mayor Smith asked if there was anyone to speak in favor <br />of the rezoning. <br />Mr. F. Carrington `deems, the Petitioner, addressed the <br />hearing and stated he plans to build apartments and <br />townhouses on the property. <br />Mayor Smith asked if there were any further comments <br />and there being none, declared the hearing; closed. <br />The PlanninET and Zoning Commission then voted to <br />recommend the proposed rezoning. (See exhibt 1) <br />Motion by Commissioner Crofoot, seconded. by Commissioner <br />Hurgin that areas 1, 2, 3, and 11 in Fairmont Park be <br />zoned Commercial. Motion carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas,Kibodeaux,Burgin and Crofoot. <br />NAYS: None. <br />Motion by Commissioner Kibodeaux, seconded by Commissioner <br />Thomas to rezone 34.74 acres of the Weems tract from <br />Residential to Commercial. Motion carried by the follow- <br />ing vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas,Kibodeaux,Burgin and Crofoot. <br />NAYS.: None. <br />+ + + <br />2. Motion by Comm. Burgin, seconded by Comm. Thomas to <br />approve the minutes of the regular meeting of November <br />16, 1970 and the special meeting of November 30, 1970 <br />as presented. Motion carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas,Kibodeaux,Burgin and Crofoot. <br />NAYS: .None. <br />+ + + <br />3. Mr_. H. P. Pfeiffer addressed the Commission in regards <br />to the city's recreational programs and to ask about <br />municipal contracts between Za Porte and the surround- <br />ing cities. <br /> <br />
