• ~ ~ <br />Discussion was held on the recreational programs and <br />the City's association with the La Porte Area Neighbor- <br />hood Center. <br />Mrs. Evelyn Kennedy, director of the Center, stated <br />she would like to meet with the Commission to discuss <br />the program with them. <br />+ + + <br />4. Mrs. Jack Lawler addressed the Commission in regards <br />to Commission approval for the newly formed steering <br />committee on drug abuse. Mrs. Lawler stated the committee <br />has approval from the Governors office and is a statewide <br />program. <br />Motion by Comm. Thomas, seconded by Comm. Crofoot endorsing <br />the committees action on drug abuse. Motion carried by <br />the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas,Kibodeaux,Burgin and Crofoot. <br />NAYS: None. <br />+ + + <br />5. Motion by Comm. Crofoot, seconded by Comm. Thomas <br />authorizing Mr. Askins to prepare an ordinance <br />approving Baytown Limousine Service to operate in <br />La Porte. Motion carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas,Kibodeaux,Burgin and Crofoot. <br />NAYS: None. <br />+ + + <br />6. Motion by Comm. Thomas, seconded by Comm. Kibodeaux <br />to accept the high bid of $563.32 from H. P. Pfeiffer <br />for the sale of a surplus map table and transit. Thomas <br />to ratify the purchase of a chlorinator for the <br />Fairmont Park sewerage treatment plant.
