~~ <br />Subject: SICK LEAVE <br />Page 6 of 10 <br />• <br />1. Sick leave shall be computed on the basis of one (1) <br />calendar day allowed for each month employed, with one (1) extra <br />day added for each four (4) months, so as to total fifteen (15) <br />calendar days each year. <br />2. Sick leave may be accumulated up to sixty (60) calendar <br />days. Leave with full pay granted for illness shall not exceed <br />sixty (60) days in any one calendar year. Should illness last <br />longer than sixty (60) days, employee will be required to take <br />the unused portion of his vacation time. <br />3. Sick leave may be granted for absence from duty only <br />because of personal illness. <br />4. Employees who are absent from work because of illness <br />must be responsible for having their absenteeism reported to <br />their Department Head by 9:00 a.m. on the day of absence. Any <br />employee failing to make such report will be penalized by having <br />leave changed to leave without pad. <br />5. All Department Heads shall make spot checks of illness <br />of employees from time to time to be assured that sick privileges <br />are not abused. Abuse of sick leave privileges is reason for <br />dismissal. <br />• 6. Department Heads are responsible for reporting sick <br />leave time to the office. <br />7. There is no provision for paying an employee for unused <br />sick leave upon termination of service with the city. <br /> <br />
