• Bonds A cash or property bond in the usual form, shall always be required in the following situations: (1) The offender refuses to sign the promise to appear on the traffic citation. (2) The offender has ro valid Operator's License or. his person. However, if the offender has a La Porte license plate, cr strong employment contacts in the La Porte community, no bond shall be required if a promise to appear is sig:~ed. In cases where bond is required, fingerprints shall always be taken at the time of arrest, in accordance with state law, on this particular offense. Bonds shall always be required on this offense by persons who have neither res- idence :nor employrriert contacts in the City of La Porte and surrounding communities. (3 ) Bonds stall always be required by out of Harris and irr~rnedi- ate adjoining County residence, for any offense,. with the exception of "Speeding". This requirement can be waived, by the Judge, in. any particular case., Insurance company bond certificated, American Automobile Asso- • ciation, or other auto club bond certificates shall be acceptable. Amount of Bonds The following schedule of bond amounts has been established, but can be changed by the Judge, for any particular case, upon his descretion. (1) Traffic offenses - the amount of the bond shall be the amount of the minimum for the offense. (2) All violations having to do with firearms shall carry a minimum bond of $75.0.0. (3) All other violations of City of La Porte ordinances and state laws, shall carry a minimum bond of $50.00. (~) Personal recognizance bonds, rather than cash or property bonds, may be furnished, with .the prior approval of the Judge. NOTE: In addition to the above amounts, a $2.50 State of Texas Court Tax must be collected on each offense, as provided • in Senate Bill No. 841 of the Sixty-Second Legislature of The State of Texas.
